Students in the Studio II class further developed their observational drawing skills by creating still lives with charcoal on toned paper. They focused on setting up a visually interesting composition, drawing objects in proportion to one another, including highlight, mid-tone and shadow areas and incorporating texture onto the objects.
Students set up their own Still Lives and used their phones to take photos to use as a reference image. They were encouraged to use a wide variety of objects.
Students laying out the shapes of their objects on large toned paper. Working on large paper allows students to work with bigger shapes.
