Close Friends (2023) is a photo-poetry book project in response to the lack of structure for connection between people living in proximity and a literal meaning of the term "Close Friends". The camera acts as a tool for connection as I walk around my neighborhood (Upper Monroe, Rochester, NY) and interact with the people and the environment in my living proximity. When I began this project during the pandemic in 2020 I met a pair of roommates that became my best friends for the past 5 years. Having close friends within walking distance boosts mental health and builds a sense of home and belonging.
